No Shortage of candidates for AP bypolls

All-India Congress Committee (AICC) observer KB Krishnamurthy said that there was no truth in the reports that Congress leaders were not coming forward to contest the forthmcoming byelections to 18 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat.
In fact, hundreds of party workers have already submitted their applications, he said and added that there is a lot of demand for the seats. Speaking to Express after meeting chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the Secretariat here on Thursday, Krishnamurthy said he came here to discuss the strategies to be adotped for poll campaign as well as select candidates and assess party prospects.
He said candidates would be selected purely on the basis of merit, caste and region. He clarified that the AICC will not have any role in the selection of  candidates. The list submitted by the APCC would be approved by the AICC and that the Congress party will give tickets only to winning horses.
The main agenda for the forthcoming bypolls would be the welfare schemes being implemented by the Congress government for the poor and the downtrodden. He exuded confidence that the welfare schemes will help  Congress win majority of seats.
Asserting that the chief minister is giving good administration and working for the welfare of the people, there would be no question of changing him   after the bypolls.
Stating that the government will be stable till 2014, Krishnamurthy said that there are no differences among the senior leaders or ministers and all are working for the success of the party in the coming polls.

Unbeaten Juventus edge closer to league triumph

Unbeaten through 34 rounds, Juventus have matched AC Milan's Serie A record set in 1991-92 under Fabio Capello, when the Rossoneri went undefeated the entire season, which then lasted only 34 rounds.
No Serie A club has ever gone undefeated in a 38-round season. Juventus are also on a seven-match winning streak.
However, it didn't look like the Turin squad was going to win on Wednesday until the 79th minute, when Marco Borriello scored his first goal since transferring from Roma in January. Actually, Borriello hadn't scored since the end of last season, having been cast aside by new Roma manager Luis Enrique at the start of this campaign.
"He arrived with a lot of bad baggage but he remained humble and fought his way up in the group," Conte said of Borriello, who scored 11 goals for Roma last season. "He never gave up, he worked hard in silence with great dedication and now I hope this goal gets him the affection he deserves."
"It moved us a big step toward our dream. Marco is giving his soul for Juve and these are the type of men I'll defend with a sword, against anyone and everyone."
Novara, Juve's next opponents, are coming off a win over third-placed Lazio.
"We've still got four finals," Conte said. "In Novara we're going to find more difficulty. ... Anyhow, Juve have become competitive again, with key fundamentals. For years we sat at the banquets of others, but now we're hungry and we want to eat."
Juve's last two titles, in 2005 and 2006, were stripped in the match-fixing scandal. The last title they retain came in 2003.
